This 1974, 34 foot Sparkman and Stephens designed Tartan 34C, built in the United States, is comparable to the Sparkman and Stephens 34, built in Australia, which has been used in eleven circumnavigations including the one completed in May 2010 by the Australian 16 year old, Jessica Watson. The S&S 34 Association website has detailed information about each of these circumnavigations.

The main difference between the Tartan 34C and the S&S 34 is that the Tartan 34C is a centerboard and the S&S 34 is a fixed keel. The LOA, LWL, beam, displacement and lead ballast are almost identical; this is not surprising since both are from the drawing board of the same designer.

The Tartan 34C gained wide acceptance on the East Coast of the United States. This Tartan 34C is one of the few 525 originals that made its way to the West Coast.

This Tartan 34C located North of San Francisco, California (Vallejo, CA) has been refitted for a long offshore voyage using the best equipment and materials on the market. Much of the equipment is new and has never (or barely) been used. It was in dry storage for two years, its hull showing no blisters. Its superior design, construction and equipment give it a long future of sailing with confidence.

Life circumstances have interferred with the completion of the intended refitting process and the selling price reflects needed maintenance and installation of equipment (on board) to be completed by buyer.
